Adrian L. Blake, 89 of Austin died Monday November 27, 2017 at St. Mark’s Nursing Home. Adrian was born in Stacyville, Iowa to William and Gertrude(Hackenmiller) Blake. He graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville and briefly attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Adrian join the US Army in 1948 and was recalled to active duty in 1950. He was sent to Korea to a reconnaissance unit. The unit evacuated from Korea December 24, 1950 His discharge was September 1951, as Sgt 1st Class. Adrian worked for the Post Office as a clerk and mail carrier in Dallas, Texas, Minneapolis, and Austin, Minnesota retiring after 32 years. In 1952 he married Dixie Wentzel and later divorced. In February 1974 Adrian married Jeanne (Simon) Ethen. Adrian is survived by his wife Jeanne Blake, his sons Dave(Shirley) La Palma, CA, Gary (Judy) Summit Hill, PA, Keith (Merilee) Oakland, MN, Leonard (Deborah) Boscobel, WI, Diana (Kevin) Sutter Apple Valley MN, Joanne (Phillip) Miller Austin, MN, Rebecca Driscoll, Rosemount, MN 27 grandchildren 36 great grandchildren; Stepchildren Todd (Lucinda) Ethen White Bear Lake, MN, Tim (Linda) Ethen Maple Grove, MN, Laurie ( Gregg) Cottingham, North Mankato, MN, Troy Ethen, Minneapolis, MN, and daughter-in-law Sherry (Ethen) Weaver, Austin, MN, 14 step grandchildren 3 step great grandchildren; Brothers Alex Blake, Stacyville, IA, William Blake Jr., Omaha NE, Sisters Dorothy Blake, Omaha, NE Rosemary (Bud) Schaefer, Adams, MN Joan (Michael) Vitale, Poughkeepsie, NY and special nephew Ted Blake Dubuque, IA, many nieces, nephews and friends. Adrian is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Vicky, Son Alan Blake, Brothers John Blake, Quentin Blake, Sisters, Marjorie Smith, Alma Wendelin, Alverna Driscoll, Janet Quentero and Ethel Bertholmey. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Saturday December 2, 2017 11:30 am at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call at 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Condolences may be left on line at www.mayerfh.com
