Obituary

Floyd “Donald” Wytaske, age 87 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at The Cedars of Austin. Don was born on May 21, 1931 in Denison, Iowa to Leo and Helen (Alwin) Wytaske. He moved around with his family as a child and when he was in his teens they moved to Austin, Minnesota, where Don attended Austin High School. On September 30, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dolores Tabor in Austin. Together the couple had 5 children. Don worked at Hormel Foods in Austin for 40 years. He was a hard worker and instilled a work ethic early in his children’s lives. Don and the kids overhauled coke crates for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Austin and took his children throughout SE Minnesota on Sunday mornings delivering newspapers. From 1970-1976, Don ran a Sno-Jet snowmobile dealership out of his garage. Don and his son Mark also owned and operated Cedmarc Enterprises, building race car components. He also farmed with his friend Russ for a few years. After retiring from Hormel, he started Don’s Lawn Care. Don enjoyed the Minnesota Vikings and Monday night football. He loved cars and racing, Don raced stock cars throughout Minnesota and Iowa, he also built them. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, David (Betty Jean) Wytaske of Austin, Minnesota, Gail (David) Moffit of Austin, Minnesota, Janet (Daryl) Johnson of Owatonna, Minnesota, Mark (Annette) Wytaske of Austin, Minnesota, Scott Wytaske of Maplewood, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brother, Howard (Sharon) Wytaske of Austin, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Helen Wytaske; wife, Dolores in 2005; and 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Austin. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
