Dale L. Hofius, age 75 of Blooming Prairie, MN died peacefully Thursday evening, February 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Field Crest Center in Hayfield, MN. Dale was born on August 30, 1941 in Westfield Township, Dodge County, MN to Raymond and Elizabeth (Slinger) Hofius. He grew up in the Blooming Prairie area, attended Blooming Prairie schools and was a lifelong Blooming Prairie resident. On May 26, 1966, Dale married Barbara Wabeke in Owatonna, MN. To this union, three sons were born. The couple later divorced. Dale worked for Lysne Construction for over 40 years. He belonged to First Lutheran Church of Blooming Prairie, MN, and was a union member. He enjoyed scraping iron, searching for arrowheads, hunting, fishing, just being in the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his three sons; Troy Hofius of Jesup, IA, Scott Hofius of Stillwater, MN and Robin Hofius of Blooming Prairie, MN. Six grandchildren, Timothy, Troy Jr., Kacie, Jonathan, Josie and Christopher; a brother, John Hofius of Orangevale, CA and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Marlys Kubista, Marilyn Hofius and Shirley Hovey.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Union Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to donor’s choice. The Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
