Raymond Morse Guttormson was born December 4, 1921 in Austin Township, MN to Roy and Mabel (Basness) Guttormson. He grew up and attended school in Austin. Raymond proudly served his country with the U.S. Army as an MP Sergeant in World War II from 1940-1945.  Upon returning home he attended Austin Junior College and received his diploma and continued his education further thru correspondence courses to earn his degree as a professional engineer, P.E.  On November 1, 1944, Raymond was united in marriage to the love of his life, Frances Byers. Raymond worked for Mower County for over 46 years, as a surveyor, draftsman and then becoming the County Highway Engineer, until his retirement in 1992.  He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 91 in Austin, MN. Raymond enjoyed time with family at the cabin and many camping trips throughout the years. In his spare time he also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. In later years he loved RV travel with Frances. They spent many winters in Weslaco, Texas. His family meant the world to him. He treasured time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
