Obituary

Adeline C. Christianson, age 95 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Prairie Manor Care Center. Adeline Catherine Kerling was born January 9, 1922 in Austin, Minnesota to Mathias and Katharina (Meyer) Kerling, the 7th of 10 children.  She attended St. Augustine Catholic School.  On November 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clinton Christianson at St. Augustine Catholic Church Parsonage in Austin, Minnesota.  This city girl became an instant farm wife, learning how to drive a tractor, care for livestock, and help with all the farm chores.  She found time to tend her many flower beds and large vegetable garden.  In 1998, Clinton and Adeline sold their farmhouse and moved into Blooming Prairie.  They enjoyed trips to casinos and travels with friends.  Adeline was known for her delicious chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies.  She will be dearly missed.

Adeline is survived by her daughters Kathryn (James) Govostes of Sandy, Utah, Darlene Christianson of Blooming Prairie, MN, Marsha (John) O’Neil of Andover, MN; four grandchildren, Nicole (Joaquin) Avila, Jenna Govostes, John O’Neil and Joseph O’Neil; four great-grandsons, Leevi Avila, Avery Avila, Joshua O’Neil and Jack O’Neil; sister Lucille Ramlo; brothers Leo (Ramona) Kerling and Vernon (Donna Krebsbach) Kerling; sister-in-law Frieda (Raymond) Christianson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Mathias and Katharina Kerling, her husband Clinton on March 19, 2017, brothers Matt, Edward, Albert, and Donald Kerling; sisters Mathilda Schumacher and Esther Bellrichard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie with Father Tom Niehaus officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30 at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 73 years.  Memorials can be directed to St. Columbanus Catholic Church or recipient of donor’s choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
