Obituary

Todd Allen Lewis, age 64 of Dothan, Alabama, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.  Todd was born April 28, 1954 at the Fort Sam Houston Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Robert E. and Iris C. (Helebrant) Lewis.  He attended Austin High School before moving on to graduate from high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  On July 7, 1973, Todd and Jean Harber were united in marriage at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.  Together they raised two children.  Todd entered the U.S. Army in February 1973.  He served in the Artillery at Fort Carson, Colorado and then continued serving his country in Korea and Fort Lewis, Washington before becoming a recruiter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dothan, Alabama.  Upon retiring from the military, Todd received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Troy University.  For three years, he worked at the Alabama Head Injury Foundation before working at the House of Ruth, a domestic violence center, for another three years.  From here, Todd became employed as a facility manager for Harvest Church, where he was a member, and then worked as a substance abuse counselor at the Houston Treatment Center.  He had a passion for woodworking.  In addition to his impressive work and military career, Todd celebrated 21 years of sobriety.  He enjoyed his leisure time with his family, as well as occasionally playing the role of Santa Claus for the Harley dealership in Dothan.  Todd will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Jean Lewis of Dothan, Alabama; his daughter Amy Lewis and his son Allen (Ranay) Lewis, both of Dothan, Alabama; two grandchildren Haley and Taylor; three foster grandchildren, Tirah, Brooklyn, and Autumn; his brother Cory Lewis of Rochester, Minnesota and his sister Bobbe (Mike) Bartley of Brookings, South Dakota; brothers and sisters-in-law Mike (Delores) Harber of Austin, Dan (Liz) Harber of Waseca, Tom (Tammy) Harber of Blooming Prairie, Denise (Mike) Fogarty of Rochester, and his dogs Emmitt, J.J., and Gracie.  Todd was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Terry Lewis, his sister-in-law Nancy Schwartz, and his in-laws Robert and Doris Harber.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin, with Rev. Lindsay Brennan officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21 at Udolpho Cemetery, rural Austin, with military honors by American Legion Post 91 and V.F.W. Post 1216.  Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
